Data Dictionary
Understand the metrics used to track your game.
Score & Score to Par
Score: The total number of strokes taken to complete the round.
Score to Par: Your total score minus the course par. A negative number (e.g., -2) means you played under par, while a positive number (e.g., +5) means you played over par.
GIR (Greens in Regulation)
A green is hit in "regulation" if any part of the ball is on the putting surface in two strokes less than par (e.g., reaching a Par 4 in 2 strokes or fewer).
GIR %: The percentage of holes where you achieved a Green in Regulation.
FIR (Fairways in Regulation)
A fairway is hit in "regulation" if your tee shot lands on the fairway on a Par 4 or Par 5 hole.
FIR %: The percentage of fairways hit divided by the total number of non-Par 3 holes.
Scrambling (Up & Down)
The ability to make Par or better after missing the green in regulation. This usually involves chips, pitches, or bunker shots followed by a single putt.
Scrambling %: Successful "Up & Downs" divided by total Green-in-Regulation misses.
Putts
The number of strokes taken once the ball is on the putting surface.
Putts Per Hole: Total putts divided by the number of holes played (typically 18 or 9).
Penalty Strokes
Additional strokes added to your score due to infractions or balls lost in hazards (e.g., Out of Bounds, Water Hazards).
